General Information on College Relations
As a vehicle for continuing to invigorate and support the OR/MS profession, the New York Chapter seeks to encourage interactions between students, faculty and practitioners.

Possibilities include:

  •  Contacting a college
  •  Meeting and talking with a student group
  •  Inviting a group to your company
  •  Having a student intern
  •  Having students work on a corporate project (much in demand and a definite
     win-win situation)
  •  Mentoring a student
  •  Sponsoring and mentoring a high school student’s Intel project
  •  Judging a student competition
  •  Hosting a student event
  •  Attending a “Job Day”
  •  Sponsoring a student’s attendance at local or national meetings
  •  Sponsoring an international student
  •  List job openings
  •  Participating in other ways. Suggestions invite
Future Possibilities:
We are interested in creating a Faculty Corner that would reside on the web site. Faculty members would be invited to send information about themselves; their college/university; their research, interests and student projects; plus a wish list with requests for the chapter and practitioners.

We are also considering setting up two list serves. One would be for faculty only to share tips on teaching OR/MS.  The second forum would be for students, academics and practitioners. Anyone interested in becoming a moderator?
