|Topic:||Performance Management and Data Analytics in the New York City Mayor's Office
& What Industry Can Learn From It
|Abstract:||Since embracing data analytics in 2010, the New York City Mayor's Office has crossed multiple agency boundaries to explore complex city issues in search of insight. Two speakers from the Mayor's Office review how public databases and thoughtful management reporting systems can drive institutional performance, drawing on examples from city health and enforcement challenges. We will consider data analytics lessons coming out of the complex environment and their benefit to industry across the board from financial institutions to manufacturing and others.|

Mayor's Offices of Operations and Data Analytics
Jeff Tryens (left) leads the Performance Management Team in the New York City Mayor’s Office of Operations which produces the Mayor’s Management Report, provides analytical support for operational improvements, and conducts daily quality of life inspections citywide.
Chris Corcoran (right) is deputy director of the Mayor’s Office of Data Analytics, where he works with a team of talented data scientists to deliver data-based insight to NYC agencies. The team’s work focuses on public safety, economic development, and developing data-based decision making across the City’s operations.
Together they will provide an overview of how the analytics capacity of the Mayor’s Office has evolved including examples of how publicly available data bases are tapped to reduce threats to human health and increase the efficiency of enforcement activities. Also, Jeff will discuss recent improvements to the Mayor’s Management Report designed to increase its usefulness as a performance management tool.
